This notice applies to every inspection report published on UKKI and to its PDF. Please read it before relying on a report. 1. What a report is. A report records the condition of the car as observed and recorded at the date and odometer reading shown on it, against UKKI's published inspection checklist. It is reviewed and approved by UKKI before the car is shown to buyers. 2. How it was made. A report is made either by an inspector UKKI appoints or by a guided self-inspection carried out by the seller and reviewed by UKKI, as the report states. A self-inspection relies on the photographs, video and answers the seller provided. 3. What it does not cover. The inspection is visual and non-invasive. It does not dismantle any part of the car, and it cannot detect faults that are hidden, intermittent, or that appear only after the inspection. Items that could not be accessed or checked are shown as not recorded. 4. Grade and score. The grade and score summarise the findings on the day. They are not a valuation, do not represent the car's market price, and are not a recommendation to buy. 5. Not a warranty. A report is not a warranty or guarantee of the car's condition, roadworthiness, mileage or future performance. Any warranty on a car is provided only where it is offered on the deal and under its own terms. 6. How long it is valid. A report is valid for the period, and up to the additional distance driven, set by UKKI and shown with the car. After that a fresh inspection is needed before the car can stay listed. 7. Verify for yourself. Buyers are encouraged to view and test-drive the car before payment and to check it carefully at handover. A buyer who finds that the car differs materially from its report may raise a dispute within the acceptance window shown on the deal. 8. Liability. UKKI takes reasonable care in appointing inspectors and reviewing reports. To the extent the law allows, UKKI is not liable for a fault that a careful inspection of the kind described here would not have revealed.
